As soon as they reached the gate they saw Travis standing there, while both Dirnt and Haley were lying on the ground, unconscious.

“Demons, they were too many,” Travis whispered, then passed out as well.

“Inside, quick!” Pete ordered as he took Haley in her arms, while Butch and Matt took care of Dirnt and Travis.

They rushed inside just as some of the others were walking downstairs. “Haley!” Joe ran towards them and eyed the girl, worried. “What happened?”

“Demons,” Pete explained, and turned to the group. “We need to get the venom out of their system quickly.”

Both Greta and Maja nodded and headed for Maja’s lab to find what they needed. Not five minutes later, the girls and Butch were taking care of them, while the others waited downstairs.

“It’s my fault,” Joe muttered as he paced in front of the staircase.

“Joe.” Cassie put a hand on his shoulder and stopped him.

“She was out there because of me, it’s my fault,” Joe repeated, shaking his head.

Vicky reached him as well and looked at him in the eye, determined. “They’re gonna be fine, okay?” she said, her voice showing how scared she was despite her words. “They’ll be fine.”

Joe nodded but didn’t say a word, then Cassie pulled him in a hug.

It took an hour before someone came downstairs, and by then the group had moved to the library.

When Pete entered, Joe and Vicky immediately reached him, worried.

“Travis and Haley are weak, but they’ll be fine,” Pete announced with a little smile, looking at them. Then he turned towards the others and his smiled vanished. “Dirnt was exposed to the venom for too long, though.”

“Fuck.” Billie Joe closed his eyes, taking a deep breath.

“But we might have a chance to save him.” Pete addressed Billie Joe and Tré a careful glace. “If a vampire turns him, he could make it. Like I did with Ryan.”

“I’ll do it,” Ashlee offered immediately, standing from the couch.

“It’s something you should think about, Ashlee.” Pete pursed his lips, but the glimpse of hope in his eyes was clear.

“Don’t lecture me on this, Mr. I-turned-Mikey-just-to-have-sex­-with-him.” Ashlee rolled her eyes and headed for the door, then stopped and turned to look at Billie Joe and Tré. “Is it okay for you?”

“Sure,” Tré immediately said, the ghost of a grateful smile showing on his lips.

“Can I see Haley?” Joe asked Pete as soon as Ashlee walked out.

“Sure, come with me, both of you.” Pete smiled and nodded his head towards the corridor. Both Joe and Vicky followed him quickly.

One day later

The first thing Haley noticed when she opened her eyes was that she was back at the Manor.

“Is this a dream?” Her voice was weak and rough, and she tried to clear her throat.

Joe immediately left his chair and reached her, smiling. “No, you’re not dreaming.” He helped her to sit up and then poured a glass of water for her.

“Weird, because I thought I told you to stay away from me in real life.” Haley took the glass and drank, closing her eyes.

“This is a truce,” Joe declared, trying to ignore how low his heart had sunk at those words. “You’ll get angry again when you get better.” Haley opened her mouth to reply, but then she looked at him in the eye and hesitated. “Travis will be fine, Dirnt will be… well, he’ll be fine too.”

Haley nodded slowly, but keep her gaze focused on Joe’s face. “You cried.”

Joe swallowed around the knot in his throat, imagining that yeah, his eyes were probably bloodshot for the tears he’d been trying to repress all night, well, the tears he’d failed to repress. “It’s just-- it’s an allergy.”

“To what?” Haley arched an eyebrow, apparently not weak enough to spare him the sarcasm.

“My own idiocy,” Joe admitted, then flinched at how lame it sounded said out loud.

Haley looked a little taken aback, though, and bit on her lower lip. The last time she’d seen Joe cry it had been when Andy had died and she remembered how Joe always let the tears fall only in the worst moments, how Joe had cried only out of sheer desperation, how rarely that happened.

“C’mere,” Haley muttered, feeling her own eyes water. “You fucking asshole,” she added as he sat on the bed next to her.

“I’m sorry for not telling you,” Joe whispered, closing his eyes. “I just wanted to wait a bit more, I just wanted to take it slow.”

“It’s not something you can wait twenty years to tell a girl.” Haley shook her head, chuckling. “I had the right to know about your past, about your family when I decided to stay with you.”

“I know.” Joe took a deep breath and looked at her again. “And I’ve been a jerk, and downright selfish, and I’m so fucking sorry I can’t find the words to say it.” He stroked her cheek with a hand and took it as a good sign when the girl didn’t move away. “And when I thought I was gonna lose you, I--”

“Joe--” Haley started, but the werewolf stopped her with a finger on her lips.

“I sat in that chair all night wondering what my life would be without you.” Joe shook his head with a sad chuckle. “And I realized that I don’t wanna find out.” He moved his finger away but Haley didn’t talk. “So don’t expect me to give up on you anytime soon.”

“I don’t want you to give up on me,” Haley admitted, looking down at the covers. “I’m too fucking in love to really hate you, and that’s really annoying.”

“No, it’s wonderful,” Joe corrected her with a little smile. “Because I love you too, and you saved me from myself when Andy-- I love you, Haley, and I’m fucking sorry I didn’t tell you about Chris.”

“You’re not gonna mess up your second chance, are you?” Haley asked with a whisper, looking up at him.

“No.” Joe shook his head, then pulled her in a hug. “I’ll be the best boyfriend ever seen in the history of good boyfriends.”

Haley laughed a bit at that, and hugged him back. “Idiot.” She closed her eyes and let out a shaky breath. “But now you’re kind of strangling me and that’s not a good boyfriend kind of thing to do.”

Joe broke the hug with a smile and placed a kiss on her forehead. “Sorry.”

“You know, Greta looks like a good girl,” Haley whispered with a little smile. “Maybe I could try to know her better or something.”

“She’d love you.” Joe felt like a weight was being lifted from his chest. “And Chris is gonna adore you.”

“Let’s hope he took after his mother.” Haley rested back against the headboard, smirking. “Or no girl on the planet will be able to stay mad at him.”

“I won’t mess up this time.” Joe took her hand in his own, smiling. “I promise.”

“Any other kid I should know about?” The girl arched an eyebrow, her tone halfway between playful and wary.

“Well, there was this one girl in Oklahoma--” Joe started, but laughed when Haley glared. “Just kidding.”

“Jerk,” Haley muttered, slowly lying down again. “I need to sleep.”

“Rest.” Joe leaned down and placed a kiss on her temple. “I’ll make sure to be here with a bowl of marshmallows when you wake up.”

“I knew there was a good reason to forgive you.” Haley smiled up at him, then closed her eyes and fell asleep just seconds later.

Joe sat back in his chair and watched her for several minutes, a relieved smile stretching his lips.

“Who are you?” Dirnt asked as soon as he woke up and saw a girl sit next to his bed.

“My name’s Ashlee.” She addressed him a wide smile. “I’m Pete’s Sire and… well, your Sire.”

“My-- what?” Dirnt sat up on the bed and looked at himself, shocked. “Am I a-- a vampire?”

“You are,” Ashlee confirmed, not moving from her chair. “You’ve been exposed to the venom for too long, it was the only way to save you.”

“I-- I guess it’s okay,” Dirnt muttered, visibly shaken. “I mean-- wait, you said Pete’s Sire?”

“I know it’s not exactly easy at first, but you’re taking it better than I thought.” Ashlee smiled again and this time Dirnt saw the relief in her eyes.

“I was pretty damn sure I was gonna die when I was out there.” Dirnt looked around, recognizing his room. “I’m just happy I was wrong.”

“The others are happy too,” Ashlee confirmed, nodding slowly. “I’ll go tell them you woke up. I’m pretty sure Billie Joe and Tré will be here in a second.”

“Thank you.” Dirnt looked at the girl in the eye, his voice still a little shaken.

“You’re welcome, kid.” Ashlee smiled at the frown on Dirnt’s face at the word ‘kid’. “What? I’m about six centuries older than you, I can totally call you kid.”

Dirnt laughed at that and she let out a little sigh, relieved. “I guess you’re right.”

“Good.” Ashlee stood from the chair and headed for the door. “I’ll be back with your friends and some blood.”

“Wait, are Travis and Haley okay?” Dirnt’s smile disappeared and Ashlee turned to look at him.

“They’re both a little weak, but they’ll be fine,” the girl confirmed with a little nod.

Dirnt sighed in relief and watched as Ashlee left the room without another word.

Later that night

William looked up from the book as soon as Gabe entered their room with a wide smile.

“Peace and love, dollface,” Gabe announced as he reached the bed and sat down in front of the boy.

“I guess that means Dirnt will be okay.” William put his book on the nightstand and smirked.

“He woke up about an hour ago: he’s a bit shaken, but he’s happy he’s still breathing.” Gabe nodded, visibly cheerful. “And guess who’s finally back together?”

“Well, considering that there are approximately three thousands couples in this house and only one is going through a break up crisis, I’d say Joe and Haley,” William replied with a grin.

“Exactly.” Gabe nodded again and crawled closer to William, sitting next to him. “Well, Travis, Dirnt and Haley are gonna be fine, Joe has his girlfriend back… I think we should celebrate.”

“Really?” William arched an eyebrow, amused.

“We deserve to forget everything once in a while, don’t we?” Gabe placed a kiss on William’s jaw and his smirk turned into a genuine smile. “At least while the situation is quiet enough.”

“We do,” William admitted, then turned his head and placed a kiss on the corner of Gabe’s mouth. “But I’m not kissing you.”

“What? Why?” Gabe asked, surprised and a little hurt.

“You ate liquorice, I can smell it, you know I hate it.” William looked at him in the eye, glaring.

“I could give you something else to taste,” Gabe whispered, placing another kiss on William’s neck.

“Seriously, Gabe, I have nothing against the use of the word ‘blowjob’ if it means you’ll stop with those lame pick up lines.” William laughed, but didn’t move away when the vampire kissed his way up to his chin.

“I wasn’t talking about my dick, you dick.” Gabe glared a bit, then let a smile curve his lips. “I was talking about my blood.”

It took a couple of seconds for William to realize what his boyfriend meant, and when he did, his eyes widened. “What? Are you sure?”

“I think you’re ready,” Gabe confirmed with a little nod. “Maybe not the neck, that’s still a little risky and we don’t want you to kill me, right?”

“Right,” William whispered, still a little shocked. “Are you completely sure?”

“I’m completely sure,” Gabe reassured him, withdrawing enough to look at him in the eye. “I want to share this with you, Bill.”

“I want it too.” William leaned forwards and rested his forehead against Gabe’s. Without a word the older vampire smiled and pulled William closer, making him turn around, until he had his back against Gabe’s chest. “How do I make this good for you?”

“You just have to concentrate on how much pleasure you want to give,” Gabe explained, placing a kiss on William’s neck. “It’s not exactly easy at first, but I’ll make sure you practice often enough.”

“How thoughtful.” William smirked, leaning back against him, then he took Gabe’s hand in his own and stroked the inside of his wrist with a thumb. “You sure?” he whispered again, placing his lips against the pale skin.

“I’m sure, dollface,” Gabe confirmed once again as his free hand gripped William’s hip possessively.

William grew his fangs and slowly sank them in Gabe’s wrist, feeling him tense a little against his back. As soon as the blood flooded in his mouth, William closed his eyes and moaned deep in his throat, sucking harder. He heard Gabe groan and tried to focus on making his boyfriend feel good, but the wave of pleasure was too intense, almost overwhelming.

“Fuck, Bill,” Gabe moaned as the hand on William’s hip gripped harder. “We should have done this before.” He panted, grinding his crotch against the boy’s ass.

William felt him harden quickly and moaned again, his lips safely glued to Gabe’s wrist.

“Slow down, dollface,” Gabe whispered to his hear, then lowered to kiss his neck. William tried to comply, but the haze in his brain was getting thicker and thicker as he swallowed more blood. Everything was red and hot and liquid. “Bill, let go.”

William felt Gabe’s hand move from his hip to his neck, pulling him back. He tried to resist, but when Gabe took his wrist away, he blinked, his mind slowly clearing. “Fuck,” he whispered, looking at the bite mark showing on Gabe’s skin. “Shit, I-- Sorry.”

“It’s okay, dollface,” Gabe reassured him with a smile, turning him around. “You’re amazing.”

“I’m not done,” William whispered with a smirk, his eyes still grey and his fangs shining in the light of the room. He leaned forward and kissed Gabe fiercely while he shifted them both until his Sire was lying flat on his back.

“I thought you didn’t want to kiss me.” Gabe was a little breathless when the kiss ended, and William just smirked.

“I have other priorities now.” With that he did a quick work of unbuttoning Gabe’s jeans, then pulled them down along with his boxers.

“I like the new priorities.” Gabe watched as William threw the clothes somewhere behind himself, then crawled back towards his face.

“I’m gonna blow you,” William whispered on his lips, then licked them slowly.

“Without the fangs,” Gabe breathed out.

“Oh, right. Whoops.” William smirked as his eyes turned back to their dark color, and his teeth to their right length. “I wanna finger you.” Gabe cocked an eyebrow, surprised, and William kissed him again, while his fingers wrapped around Gabe’s erection. “Please.”

“Okay, fuck, do it.” Gabe closed his eyes, thrusting up in the boy’s hand.

William kissed his way down the vampire’s chest, stopping briefly to bite on his hip, satisfied with the whimper he got in reply. Once he reached Gabe’s cock, he didn’t waste time and took it in his mouth in one fluid move, sucking on the head like he’d sucked on Gabe’s wrist just minutes before.

“Bill, your mouth, fuck--” Gabe bit on his lower lip, arching up. William choose that moment to let go of him and Gabe looked down just in time to see him suck on his own fingers, his eyes focused on Gabe’s half-closed ones. “Fuck.”

“You liked it.” William bit playfully on Gabe’s nipple, then rested his head on his chest.

“I did,” Gabe admitted with a smile. “And just so you know, I never bottomed for anyone.”

“Really?” William’s eyes widened at that and he looked up at his boyfriend. “I didn’t mean to-- I mean, I was a bit-- I was caught up in the moment.”

William nodded and tilted his head up, kissing Gabe square on the mouth, then rested his head back on Gabe’s chest. “Maybe this could be the appetizer of your birthday present.”

“Oh, fuck off, it was just an idea.” William pouted, kicking him under the covers. “And you know what? Forget your present.”

“And when are we finally gonna celebrate it?” William looked up, resting his chin on Gabe’s chest. “It was five days ago.”

“Once the mess is over,” Gabe answered with a little smile. “Maja postponed celebrations too.”

“Yeah, well, that’s probably because on her birthday, instead of buying a cake, she was bringing Mikey back to life.” William grinned and his hand reached Gabe’s, lacing their fingers together.

“Well, whatever. I don’t wanna celebrate my birthday when there’s impending death out of the door.” Gabe placed a kiss on the top of William’s head. “It’s the first birthday I spend with my soon-to-be mate and I want it to be happy, not happy with a side note of lethal.”

“I remember what is like to have a happy birthday with my soon-to-be mate,” William whispered, playing with Gabe’s fingers. “I think it’s worth the wait.”

“It really is.” Gabe smiled at those words, pulling the boy even closer. “Now sleep, dollface, it’s gonna be a long week.” The older vampire closed his eyes and took a deep breath, relaxed.

William muttered something in reply, but Gabe was way too gone already and didn’t hear it.

One day later

“It’s not a bad plan, you know?” Maja raised her eyes from the book, smirking. “Might actually work.”

“Exactly.” Butch arched an eyebrow, perplexed. “And I swear, if Wentz finds something else to whine about, I’m gonna rip his eyes out.”

“Butch.” Maja glared at the werewolf, shaking her head. “He’s doing his best to keep this clan together.”

“And save the world,” Bianca added with a grin from the doorstep. “How’s it going?”

“We found something,” Brian informed, smiling back at her, while Butch shifted his gaze to the book. “Let’s go tell Pete, I think he’s gonna be happy to hear it.”

“Pete is a very complicated vampire.” Maja grinned and collected the books, while they all headed out of her lab.

Butch hesitated and stood where he was, biting on his lips. “Bianca… can I have a word?”

“Sure.” Bianca arched both her eyebrows, surprised.

“We’ll wait on the stairs.” Brian headed down the corridor with a smirk and Maja immediately followed him.

“So?” Bianca asked as soon as the two were out of earshot.

“We need to talk.” Butch looked at her, but moved his eyes away immediately, unsure.

“Okay. I’m listening.” The corner of Bianca’s mouth curled up.

“I--” Butch took a deep breath and stepped forward quickly, pressing his lips to the vampire’s. She let out a muffled yelp of surprise and he pushed her gently against the wall. “We’re even now.”

“You,” Bianca whispered against his mouth, laughing. “You need a good psychiatrist.”

“Yeah, whatever.” Butch gave in and smiled back. “We really need to talk.”

“Later.” Bianca nodded briefly as Butch stepped back slowly. “Now you’ve got something to do.”

Butch pursed his lips and took a deep breath, walking out of the room without another word. As soon as he reached Brian and Maja, he replied to their smirks with his best glare, which spared him the questions and kept the other two silent until they reached the hall.

“Please, tell me you have good news too,” Pete said as soon as Butch, Brian and Maja entered the library.

“We do,” Maja announced with a wide smile. “We know how Hayley’s controlling the demons.”

“And… is that good?” Patrick arched an eyebrow, uncertain.

“It’s good,” Butch confirmed with a nod. “She’s using an ancient pendant that was probably created by the wizard that wrote the books.”

“A pendant? Like the ones Maja uses to neutralize demons’ powers?” Spencer frowned, thoughtful and surprised at the same time.

“Exactly, sweetie.” Brian reached the group and ignored the glare Jon addressed him. “We don’t know where she found it, but as Butch said, it was probably with the book.”

“When I stole the book from her there wasn’t anything with it.” Mikey bit on his lip, worried.

“She started to use it when she freed Jeremy,” Butch explained, sitting at the table as well. “Which was before you stole the book.”

“If we catch her and we take the pendant, we can stop everything.” Maja smiled, looking at Pete first, then at Patrick. “We can use it to control the demons and send them all back through the rift.”

“We have to find her, first.” Pete pointed out, arching an eyebrow.

“I never said it was gonna be easy.” Brian shrugged, taking a chair next to Spencer. “But we can summon her.”

“She’s not a demon, she’s a werewolf,” Jon objected, pointedly not looking at Molko.

“It’s not a problem.” Maja shook her head, thinking. “A strong enough wizard can summon pretty much whatever he wants, from the neighbor’s cat to the US President.”

“Can we summon Angelina Jolie?” Pete asked with a grin, gaining a glare from Patrick and a slap on the head from Maja.

“Isn’t it a little bit too dangerous?” Spencer wondered, biting on his lower lip. “I mean, we lost Bob trying to keep her out, and now we bring her here?”

“It’s the only chance we’ve got.” Brian sighed, his smile gone. “Once she appears, we’re gonna trap her and take the pendant.”

“With trap, he means kill, right?” Pete asked, addressing both Butch and Brian an eloquent glare.

“We’ll see.” Butch’s jaw clenched and Maja’s eyes turned sadder. “The priority is to make sure she can’t hurt anyone or anything.”

Pete pursed his lips and looked at the ground, clearly contemplating their options and the plan the wizards had just proposed. “Are we gonna be able to close the rift after we force the demons to walk back through it?”

“We’re working on it.” Maja nodded, keeping her eyes on the vampire.

“Good.” Pete sighed, standing slowly from the chair. “Once you’re completely certain you have a safe way to close the rift, you’ll have my okay for this.”

“Fine,” Brian accepted with a nod. “Let’s go back to work, then.”

A/N:No cliffhanger this time. But don’t be too happy, because there’s a price to pay for this. *grins* Expect next chapter to have… well, maybe I shouldn’t say this. LOL Just expect trouble. Like, real trouble.
Second thing, in the chapter it’s five days after Gabe’s birthday and yesterday really was his birthday. LOL I haven’t noticed that the story timeline was this close to real life date until now, I swear I didn’t do it on purpose. LOL The Cobra probably orchestrated everything. *nods*
Last but not least, the battle is close. Very close. So yeah, next one is gonna be a tough chapter. *grins*
