“Who’s behind this? And how do we stop them?” Pete looked directly at Butch as he talked, his tone careful. William and Gabe sat down on one of the couches, while Ryan and Brendon stood near Greta.
“You have the worst manners ever, Wentz.” Greta glared, crossing her arms. “The venom might not be lethal, but it’d be nice to offer Butch some kind of help before you start the interrogation.”
“Uh, I--” Pete scratched his neck, embarrassed.
“I’ll get Maja.” Patrick smirked and quickly headed out of the room.
“Unless she’s too busy with her new friend.” Butch muttered through clenched teeth, annoyed.
“Billie Joe is a good guy.” Pete immediately snapped, sitting down on the couch in front of Butch.
“Whatever.” Butch turned to look at Pierre, raising an eyebrow. “Who is he?”
“Pierre Bouvier.” Pierre returned the look with equal intensity. “I was killed in this house a while ago.”
“Great, a freaking ghost.” Butch sighed, turning back to Pete. “Your clan is starting to look like a joke.”
“Seriously, is there something that makes you less cranky?” Pete rolled his eyes, exasperated.
“Yeah, being miles away from you. And from every other person in this house.” Butch retorted, his tone more bitter than he had really wanted it to be.
“Well, that’s mean.” Maja said from the doorstep, glaring at the man. Patrick just walked in and didn’t say a word, his jaw tightening. “I should bring this potion back in my lab and leave you in your misery.”
Butch looked back at her but kept his mouth obstinately shut.
“Well?” Greta looked at the werewolf too, then reached Maja.
“Fine, okay, I didn’t mean that.” Butch admitted, looking up at them from the armchair. “Not the part about the house.”
“And?” Maja cocked an eyebrow, clearly waiting for him to add something.
“And I won’t act like a jerk anymore.” Butch forced out the words, then took a deep breath. “Can I have the damn potion now?” Butch rolled his eyes when Maja didn’t move, and glared at Pete when he saw the vampire grinning. “Please.”
“Of course.” Maja smiled and handed him a little bottle. Butch took it and drank the content in one sip, grimacing at the sour taste.
“Wait, you two know each other?” William frowned, looking at Maja.
“He’s my father.” Maja admitted with a little smile, seeing the shocked expressions on William, Ryan and Brendon’s faces. “Well, my step father, actually.”
“So that’s where you grew up.” William shook his head, confused. “You never told us.”
“She couldn’t.” Greta smiled at him too, then turned to look at Butch. “Someone didn’t want people to know he let one of his kids join Pete Wentz’ gang.”
“I promised to keep my mouth shut, and I did.” Maja sighed, taking the empty bottle from Butch. “But no more lies from now on.”
“Whatever.” Butch turned to look at Gabe, who was staring at him, surprised. “What?”
“A few years ago I heard rumors about a werewolf wizard training a bunch of kids.” Gabe explained and a slow smirk stretched his lips. “It was you, then.” It wasn’t a question, and William’s eyes widened even more. “And you didn’t want people to know you trained two witches without the authorization of the Council.”
“I had their authorization.” Butch snapped, glaring at the vampire. “But not for all of them.” He admitted, moving his gaze away.
“What’s the Council?” Ryan asked, dumbfounded.
“Holy fucking shit, Wentz.” Butch turned to look at Pete, incredulous. “You might not give a damn about the Council anymore, but you could at least tell your guys it still exists.”
“The Council is a joke.” Pete addressed a sarcastic smile at Butch. “You’re the only one in the country who still thinks of it as something more.”
“The Council is a group of people who are supposed to make sure everyone plays fair.” Maja explained with a sigh, looking at Brendon and Ryan.
“Two vampires and a werewolf.” Butch added, throwing a disapproving look at Maja. “One of the vampires is also a wizard.” Then he turned back to Pete. “And the only reason I still think of it as something more is that we need it.”
“We don’t.” Pete chuckled, shaking his head.
“Really?” Butch stood from the armchair and walked steadily towards Pete. “Let’s talk about the Way clan and their supposed neutrality.” Butch saw Pete’s jaw tighten at that. “No, wait, let’s talk about Butcher and the fact that no one stopped him for over a century.”
“Shut the fuck up.” Patrick whispered, furious, and both Butch and Pete turned to look at him. “You did nothing to stop him when you could.”
“Do you really think I didn’t try?” Butch faced the werewolf, angry. “You have no idea how many of us died trying to find him, or to kill him.” He saw something change in Patrick’s gaze. “You have no idea because you weren’t there.”
Patrick closed his eyes at that, trying to stay in control of his emotions, but opened them immediately when he felt Pete move. The vampire’s fist collided with Butch’s jaw before Patrick could stop him and the werewolf fell to the ground.
“And where the fuck were you when he got kidnapped?” Pete growled, throwing himself at Butch. “Where the fuck where you when he was being tortured almost to death by that son of a bitch?”
“Guys, stop it.” Maja tried to take a step towards them, but William stopped her and Gabe reached the fighting pair.
“Hey.” Gabe gripped Pete’s hoodie and pulled him back. “Stop it.”
“Fuck off, Saporta.” Pete hissed, trying to get free while Butch stood from the ground.
“We don’t have time for this.” Patrick glared at the two of them.
“Patrick, he--” Pete stopped when he saw the look in Patrick’s eyes, and immediately wanted to smack himself. He knew it was hard for Patrick to see them fight like that, the man who raised him -and turned him into a werewolf- against the man he loved, and Pete regretted jumping at Butch’s throat like that at the first chance. “Okay.” He took a deep breath and looked at Butch, his rage still boiling right under the surface. “We should try and make this work. At least for a while.”
Butch looked suspicious at the sudden change of attitude, then noticed Patrick’s hurt gaze too. “We need each other’s help if we wanna stop this.” He admitted without looking at Pete.
“What did you mean when you said you had the authorization, but not for all of them?” Gabe asked Butch, then threw a curious glance at Greta.
“They were four.” Butch’s expression darkened as he explained. “The Council gave me its okay to train Greta, Maja and another kid, Jack. But they were four.”
“Hayley.” Maja whispered, her eyes immediately clouding with worry. “Is she behind all this?”
“Yeah.” Butch admitted, looking at her. “She left the pack a year ago.”
“Greta told me.” Maja nodded, and saw the group look at them with curiosity.
“Who’s Hayley?” Pete frowned, looking at Butch, then at Maja.
“She was one of us, she was the most talented.” Greta explained, the smile completely gone from her face. “Like, she was a natural at magic.”
“Hayley Williams. She was really promising.” Butch agreed as he sat down on one of the armchairs. “That’s why I trained her despite the Council’s negative answer.” He looked at Pete, then moved his eyes back to Gabe. “They labeled her as dangerous, but she was only six, I thought I was gonna be able to keep her under control.”
“What is she trying to do?” William saw the werewolf turn to look at him and held his gaze.
“This is gonna sound crazy, but… she wants to relocate Chicago.” Butch thought about the best way to say it, then just sighed and stood from the armchair. “In another dimension.”
“She wants to do what?” Ryan’s frown deepened and everyone mirrored that expression, waiting for Butch to answer.
“She wants to trap Chicago in a magic dimension field.” Greta explained slowly, then bit on her lip. “Like when you trap a fly with a glass.”
“That’s crazy.” Pete shook his head and chuckled. “Why would she want to do that?”
“Because once the dimension field will be completed, the time for the people inside will freeze.” Butch threw him an annoyed glance, his voice filled with irritation. “Vampires won’t need to feed anymore and werewolves won’t be forced to transform during full moons. It’s her idea of freedom.”
“It’ll be an endless night, and the only ones who won’t be able to survive will be humans.” Greta informed with a soft sigh. “Millions of people are gonna die.”
“She’s been contacting the biggest packs and clans in the States.” Butch turned to look at Maja. “They won’t accept to follow her unless she brings them evidence she will be able to create the field.”
“What kind of evidence?” Gabe frowned, his gaze moving from Butch to Greta and back.
“The ancient book that Mikey Way stole from her a few months ago. And then sent you.” Butch replied with an eloquent glare in Pete’s direction. “I don’t know where she found it, but she used it to free the Keebo.”
“What’s gonna happen outside Chicago?” Ryan suddenly asked, and everyone turned to look at him. “You said this could mean the end of humankind, what’s gonna happen?”
“Holy fucking hell.” Maja whispered wide-eyed, realization and shock drawn on her face.
“The field will cause a rift between our dimension and the other one.” Butch turned his back to them, walking towards the window.
“You mean, the afterlife dimension?” William asked in a stunned tone, looking at the werewolf.
“Demons, damned souls, every kind of bad shit will be able to get out.” Butch leaned against the empty fireplace and looked back at them. “In no time the entire human race would disappear, they’re not nearly strong enough to fight something like this.”
“How do we stop this crazy bitch?” Pete asked, ignoring the glare that Butch addressed him.
“She needs the book to build the dimension field.” Maja shook her head, frowning. “I saw the formula in there.”
“That’s not the only copy.” Greta sighed as the group turned to look at her, confused. “The Council has the other one.”
“Wait, you mean Hayley wants to kill the Council?” Brendon asked wide-eyed, gaining a surprised glance from Pete.
“We’re not sure.” Butch admitted with a sigh. “It would piss off a lot of people and that’s not what she wants.”
“She wants it from us.” Maja nodded, thoughtful. “Which means she’ll try to get inside the house, somehow.”
“That’s why they tried to trap me when they attacked me.” Gabe muttered, shaking his head. “Sneaky little shits.”
“The rift already opened when Hayley freed the Keebo.” Butch added, raising an eyebrow. “We need to find them and stop this before it widens, dozens of demons already came through it.”
“And we need to find a way to get rid of the Keebo.” Patrick looked at the other werewolf, clearly worried.
“I thought you said they can’t be killed.” William frowned, confused and a little shaken by all those info.
“They can’t.” Pete confirmed with a sigh. “But they can be trapped and sent to Hell just like every other demon. It only takes a shitload of experience with exorcisms.”
“The rift is our priority.” Butch declared, and took a few steps towards them. “Or everything we send to the other side will come back.”
“Call your guys, we gotta work together to stop this.” Pete looked at Butch in the eye, every trace of rivalry gone for a few moments.
“My guys are taking care of the demons who already passed through the rift, we need to keep the situation under control.” Butch shook his head, somehow dejected. “Me, Greta and Jack are the only help you’re gonna get.”
“Definitely better than nothing.” Pete admitted, then a little smirk tugged at his lips. “Actually, I expected you to kick me or something.”
“You got lucky.” Butch chuckled, shaking his head, then turned towards Greta. “Call Jack and tell him to get his ass here immediately. And tell him to bring Chris, this is the safest place for now.”
“Who’s Chris?” Patrick asked with a curious frown.
“My son.” Greta announced with a smile, and Ryan’s eyes widened. “He’s two years old.”
“Wait, you’re… you’re a werewolf.” Brendon looked at her, confused.
“I am, I became a werewolf four years ago.” Greta saw Maja smile at that, and looked back at Brendon. “The father is a werewolf too, and so is the baby.” Greta nodded, a little amused by the group’s shocked expressions. “He’ll grow until he reaches his ideal age, then he’ll stop aging.”
“Werewolves creep me out sometimes.” William admitted, but his lips were stretched in a little smirk.
Someone knocked on the library door and Pete answered to come in.
“Hey, is everything okay?” Joe asked from the doorstep, then his frown turned into a surprised expression. “Butch? Greta?”
“Funny.” Greta smirked, truly amused. “We were just talking about you.”
“Were we?” Ryan frowned, confused, then brought his hand to his mouth. “Joe?”
“Yep, he’s the father.” Greta let out a little laughter at Ryan’s shocked face.
“No way, he can’t be. What about Haley?” Brendon asked before he could stop himself and saw Joe turn his head to glare at him. If looks could have killed, Brendon would have been dead. Several times.
“Who’s Haley?” Greta tilted her head to the side, surprised.
“It’s a long story.” Maja bit on her lip, suddenly serious. “Call Jack and then I’ll explain.”
Greta threw a last glance at Joe, then took out her phone and walked towards the opposite side of the library, where Pierre had been sitting the whole time, listening.
“I’m sorry.” Brendon mouthed at Joe, who glared and reached the group.
“Wait, this means you and Joe already knew each other.” William looked at Maja with a trace of betrayal in his eyes.
“I’m sorry I had to lie about a few things, Bill.” Maja looked mortified and Butch took a step towards them. “I really am.”
“Blame me, Beckett, not her.” Butch looked at William in the eye, his voice softer than before. Then he turned towards Joe. “Does this Haley girl know you have a son?”
“Uh, no?” Joe flinched, biting on his lower lip.
“This is gonna be a long long week.” Pete closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose for the second time in less than an hour.

Later that night
“So.” Haley looked at the girl standing in front of her. “You’re Joe’s girlfriend.”
Joe flinched, his hand still rubbing at his reddened cheek. Not that he could blame the girls for slapping him, but hell, it hurt.
“Not exactly.” Greta cocked an eyebrow, perplexed. “We’re not together anymore.”
“But you have a son.” Haley added, keeping her tone flat.
“We do. He’s two years old.” Greta nodded slowly and felt bad for Haley when she saw the plain hurt in the girl’s eyes. “Look, I had no idea Joe had someone, Maja didn’t tell me.”
“I asked her not to.” Joe looked warily at the two of them. “I didn’t expect you to show up like this.”
“Yeah, well, I did.” Greta glared at him, then looked back at Haley. “I’m sorry you had to find out like this.”
“Save your breath, you can take him back.” Haley went for the door and Joe moved to follow her, but Greta stopped him.
“I’m not here to take him back.” Greta waited for Haley to turn towards her again. “And once this mess will be over I’ll go back to my pack.”
“I don’t give a fuck about your plans.” Haley snapped, then took a deep breath and tried to calm down. “Sorry, that was-- I know this isn’t your fault.”
“Maybe we should talk about this.” Joe addressed Haley a tentative glance, and the girl turned sharply towards him.
“Or maybe you should just fuck off.” Haley hissed, clearly furious, then opened the door and headed outside.
“Haley.” Greta gestured Joe to stay in the room, then followed the other girl in the corridor. “Hey.” Greta waited for Haley to stop and bit on her lower lip, worried.
“What?” Haley turned with a frown, halfway between angry and curious.
“I know my word probably doesn’t mean anything to you, but… Joe’s a good guy.” Haley started to say something, but Greta raised a hand to stop her. “Just talk to him.”
Haley hesitated for a few seconds, then looked away and took a deep breath. “I’ll think about it.”
“Okay.” Greta addressed her a soft smile. “I’m sorry you found out like this.”
“Yeah, me too.” Haley whispered, then headed down the corridor without another word.
Greta walked back in Joe’s room and slammed the door closed. “Joseph Mark Trohman, you freaking idiot.”
“I’m a dickhead.” Joe admitted, hunching his shoulders. “She probably hates me now.”
“I wouldn’t blame her if she did.” Greta glared for a few seconds, then her expression softened. “Give her some time.”
“When are Jack and Chris gonna get here?” Joe sighed, trying to change the subject.
“Tomorrow, late afternoon.” Greta rested her back against the door. “He misses you.”
“I miss him too.” Joe admitted with a little smile.

Maja held the book safely against her chest as she hurried down the corridor towards Pete and Patrick’s room. When she reached it, she knocked quickly on the door, biting on her lips.
“Come in.” Patrick’s voice sounded distracted but Maja didn’t hesitate to open the door and step inside. Patrick was sitting at the desk, looking at some papers, while Pete was sitting on the bed, holding his phone. Hemingway looked up for a moment, then yawned and just went back to sleep.
“What’s up?” Pete closed his phone and addressed Maja a worried look.
“There’s a little dimension rift. It’s still small, but it’s there.” Maja informed with a smile, and Patrick turned to look at her.
“Yeah, we got the memo.” Pete nodded slowly, eyeing the witch with a confused expression. “And it’s supposed to be a bad thing, you know?”
“Of course it is.” Maja opened the book and turned it towards them. “But there’s a dimension rift. And we can do this.” She gestured towards the page in front of them.
“You’ve got to be kidding me.” Patrick quickly looked up after reading a few lines.
“If this is an elaborate way to make me feel like an ignorant for not knowing Latin, I swear I’m gonna kick you both.” Pete cocked an eyebrow, annoyed.
“This is a ritual.” Maja rolled her eyes, pointing at the page. “It can only be used if there’s a dimension rift.”
“Do it.” Patrick said immediately, looking at the girl in the eye. “If you can really use this, do it.”
“Hey, hey, slow down.” Pete frowned and shook his head, confused. “What is this ritual for?”
“We can bring Mikey back.”

One day later
“Wait, you want to do what?” William stood from the couch in the library and faced Pete, while Gabe watched the scene with a frown.
“We want to bring Mikey back.” Pete repeated, his voice resolute and calm. “Maja says she can do it now that there’s a dimension rift. But the only one with enough experience for this is Butch.”
“No, I’m not doing it.” Butch shook his head, standing as well. “It would widen the rift.”
“It’s not like it won’t get bigger anyway now that demons are passing through it.” Maja objected, holding the book. “This would be almost insignificant.”
“How do we do this?” William looked at Maja, sounding just as determined as Pete did.
“You have to sacrifice a vampire to bring another vampire back.” Butch explained, skeptical. “There’s a balance between the dimensions, and it cannot be broken.”
“Unless we want to help the crazy bitch to widen the rift even more, right?” Pete arched an eyebrow, curious.
“Right.”
“We have to do this.” Patrick looked directly at Butch, his voice firm. “He saved my life.”
“What about all the other things he did?” Butch chuckled, incredulous. “Do I really have to mention the Butcher thing again?”
“No, unless you want me to kick your ass again.” Pete replied immediately, his tone threatening and deadly serious.
“He deserves a second chance.” William said without thinking twice about it.
“And who’s gonna die to bring him back?” Gabe asked, curious and a little worried.
“We still have Ray sedated in the basement.” Patrick sat down on one of the chairs. “It’s not like we’d let him go anyway. At least it won’t be a useless, coldhearted execution.”
Butch took a deep breath and looked at the others in the room, thinking. After a minute he closed his eyes and sighed, resigned. “Fine. When?”
“Now.” Maja opened the book and handed it to the werewolf. “I got everything ready in my lab, just in case you said yes.”
“Lead the way.” Butch told the witch, then threw a meaningful glance at Patrick. “And just for the record, I’m only doing this because we need all the help we can get and Mikey was pretty badass.”
Gabe stood and reached William with a little smile, while Maja, Butch and the others headed towards the basement.
“Are you okay, dollface?” Gabe asked as they followed the group.
“I don’t know.” William admitted as his hand found Gabe’s. “I just-- I didn’t expect this.”
Gabe placed a kiss on William’s temple, smiling. “He’ll be happy to see you too.”

A/N: I’m feeling so so evil right now, but I think this is more than enough to guess who’s coming back. *grins*
And apparently it’s Hayley who Mikey stole the book from. *nods*
Also, Maja and Butch are not a mystery anymore, and apparently even Joe had a couple of surprises. I know this is going to be a lot to take in, but… I tried to be as clear as possible.
Before I forget, yes, it’s Jack as in Jack Marin, ex-Cute Is What We Aim For.
Ray being kept in the cell finally has a closure and a reason. *nods* (Nate isn’t forgotten either, there’s a reason he’s still in the basement as well. And no, he’s not gonna be killed to bring other people back. LOL)
Uh, last thing. NC-17 scene in next chapter, but it’s not one of the main pairings. *grins*
After all this, I’ll let you go.
